On the coast in Napa county, Northern California, sits Salt Point State Park. It is a great place to go camping and get away for a few days. Here are a few photos from that area.
The rock next to the ocean has some fascinating geological properties. There is a natural phenomenon called tafoni, small cavities that develop in the rock. This is also where sandstone used to construct San Francisco streets during the mid 1800s came from.
Walking along the shore at high tide, there were tide-pools. We saw a lot of Sea Stars, Anemones, Bat Starfish, and crabs. Offshore there were Sea Lions jumping in the surf.
On our final day we hiked down to a cove and watched the water. A small stream flowed in, and fishing in the river was a Blue Heron. We watched him slowly move for about 20 minutes, catching the occasional fish.
